
The Work of Duane Laurabee
THE STORY
Born in Santa Barbara, California, in 1939, Duane Laurabee has studied art and music since childhood. Early in his life, his work was showcased in venues along the east coast and in Carmel, CA. Additionally, Laurabee’s work has been celebrated for decades in private collections.
Laurabee spent a number of decades focused on music, then returned to painting in the 1970s. In 1979, his work was honored in a one-man exhibition at the El Paseo Gold Room in Santa Barbara.
Over the years, Laurabee’s work has been shown not only in a variety of restaurants, but also in The Art Connection and Caravinta Winery in Solvang, CA, the Morley-Bryant & Co./Art Brutte in Los Alamos, CA, Marina Square Gallery in Morro Bay, CA, and the Catalina Art Association Gallery on Crescent in Avalon, CA.
Landscapes and seascapes are usually his primary work, along with intermittent abstract pieces. Mr. Laurabee has resided in the Santa Ynez Valley for the past 33 years.
